Hello All
We have a variety of activities and dates for your diary. With two beaver colonies, all of these activities will also apply to the Friday Night Beavers and the Monday Night Beavers.
- The Hike.
The hike will go ahead on SATURDAY March 10th, 2012.
The cost per child will be around the €10 mark. This will be a NON uniform event but neckerchiefs please. We will go by bus to Killarney and walk from Torc Waterfall up to Torc Mountain (or as close as we get). Can you all come back to conorcrowley@douglasscouts.ie for the monday night beavers and daragowan@douglasscouts.ie for friday night beavers to confirm attendance. It should be a great day out.
- The Beaver Mini Olympics
This is Sunday March 25th – between 1-4 pm. The cost per child will be €5. This will be similiar to last year. We will go with the other beaver colonies to Kilcully where we will do a variety of activities from sack races to tug of wars to obstacle courses etc. We will actually need to confirm numbers for this by the end of the month so if you could come back to the leaders as soon as you can, we would appreciate it.
- Beaver Sleepover – Date to be confirmed.
We are proposing to do an overnight in the hall on a friday night (probably late April). We will send out more info on this as soon as we can.
There is NO Beavers on either Friday or Monday 13th or 17th February.

Monday Night Team: Conor, Deborah, Lisa, David & Aidan.
Friday Night Team: Siobhan, Dara, Ross & James.
A host of beavers, cubs, scouts, venturers, rovers, leaders and parents descended on City Hall on Tuesday 10th January for a reception hosted by Lord Mayor Terry Shannon.
We were greeted in the council chamber where the Lord Mayor welcomed us. The Lord Mayor then took us through the many treasures on display in his offices in two groups.
Conor is seen below signing the visitors book which will go to the City Archives at the end of the Lord Mayor’s tenure. Click on the thumbnails to get a larger version.

Here are the beavers and cubs getting a tour with a very patient Lord Mayor.
And finally all of us! Go Douglas!

The Lord Mayor is to honour members of the Douglas Scout Group with a reception in City Hall Cork on January 10th 2012 celebrating 60 years of Scouting in Douglas.
All members are invited and a family member can join then if they wish. We must confirm with the mayors office the numbers going to attend.
All members are asked to make contact with their section leader or the Group Leader to confirm they are going before Friday December 30th
Douglas Scout Group is moving into it’s Christmas Holidays and sections have started to finish up weekly meetings for 2011
On behalf of all of the section leaders, assistant leaders and helpers, I’d like to wish all our members a warm and happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
I’d like to thank all the leaders and members of the Group Council for their ongoing support since I became Group Leader.

The gifts will be collected during the service and will be later on handed out to various charities and good causes for children less well off this Christmas.

The beavers cinema night takes place between 6:30pm – 8:30pm on Wed night in Carrigaline Scout Hall.
Directions
1) Head for Carrigaline on main cork road.
2) Drive in straight to the roundabout with the Carrigaline Court on right side and Church on the left.
3) Take a left (first exit) at this roundabout.
4) Take a right at the traffic lights.
5) Then take the next right turn. This right turn is BEFORE the roundabout at Lidl. The Carrigaline scout Hall is in here on the right hand side. There is plenty of parking.
We will start at 6:30pm. We will finish at 8:30 pm.
The Beaver Hike will take place between 2:00pm – 4:30 pm on Saturday (fingers crossed for the weather). We are bringing the finishing time back to 4:30 as we will be losing daylight. The location is still Old Court Woods with us meeting at the Garryduff side. There has been some issues with accessing Garryduff from Clarke’s Hill and Coach Hill this week. I don’t know whether this will still be a problem. If it is you should still be able to park in Mount Oval or JamesMount and walk over to the entrance. We are looking for help with the hike. If you can come along, please let us know.

Hello All Beavers
Some dates for your diary.
The rescheduled hike is provisionally the first saturday AFTER the kids are back for mid-term so that is Saturday November 12th.
Also, on Wednesday November 9th, we are having our County Section Beaver Cinema Night on Wednesday November 9th in Carrigaline Scout Hall hosted by our good friends in Carrigaline Scouts. The cost is €2 per beaver. Everyone really enjoyed it last year. However, due to the mid-term break, we actually need numbers and the €2 from everyone by THIS Friday night.
On Saturday, December 10th between 3:00pm – 5:00 pm we will be doing our annual beaver Christmas \ Santa meeting in Kilcully. The cost is €10 per beaver. We will need confirmation by Friday 18th November of numbers. The friday after will be fine for payment.
Yours in scouting
Dara, Siobhan, Ross and James
