The Parents & Friends Committee are running with a Race Night in aid of our Group in Nemo Rangers Hurling & Football Club on May 12th.

We need your support!

How can you help?

For starters, this event is for adults only. As there is alcohol served in the Nemo Rangers complex this event is not suited to anyone under the age of 18.

We are selling the horses… we have great prizes for the winning horse owners of each race! It’s a great night, come along and support us.

Horses costs €20 each; just give the money, horse name and owners name to any section leader as soon as possible. Once they sell out we can’t sell any more!

We will have a raffle and an auction race on the night also. Plenty of spot prizes on offer; spread the word, tell your friends and family and join us. First race kicks off at 8pm

At the end of the month of January 2017 we will of course have the big group weekend away to Mount Melleray, there are still a few places left if you want to book so get onto the Easypaymentsplus system now and sign up!

For the Scouts & Venture Scouts 2017 will be focusing on summer Camp which in July will take us to Gilwell Scout Activity Centre in London. Deposits are now been taken, book your place before it’s too late!

All of our sections have a great few months ahead planned but for now, enjoy the break, enjoy time with your family and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2017

Dear Parents & Members,

By Wednesday next the 12 Days of Christmas tickets will be in circulation for almost a month. In order that we can arrange that they are sent back to Scouting Ireland National Office and registered in time for the draw all ticket books (preferably all sold) must be handed into the Scout Hall by Wednesday 7th December at 8pm at the very latest.

ALL SECTIONS MUST RETURN THEIR TICKETS ASAP PLEASE

12 Days Return

Books of tickets (preferably all sold) can be dropped into the Scout Hall (in an envelope, with the money and ticket stubs) on Monday night from 6pm to 8:30pm, on Tuesday night from 6:30pm to 9:30pm and on Wednesday night from 8pm to 8:30pm

The Parents & Friends Committee are meeting up on Wednesday night in the Scout Hall to arrange registration of the sold tickets and preparing for them to be sent up to National Office to be included in the draw.

Those who sell full books will be entered into our own internal Douglas & St. FinBarres draw for a small prize

Remember; this is a big fund raising opportunity for our group as all proceeds (less 10%) remain with our Scout Group. There are some incredible prizes int his years draw and we encourage everyone to give this their full support.

If you are interested in giving your time this way to the group please get in touch by email let me know if you can join the team.

That time is rolling around again – St. Patrick’s Day is on it’s way

In keeping with our traditions and involvement in the parish we will be attending two religious services on St. Patrick’s Day

11:00am Mass in St. Columbas Church & 11:15am Service in St. Lukes Church

We would like to ask as many of members as possible to attend one of these services. We will be assembling in the Scout Hall from 10:30 in full uniform. Please let your section leader know that you can attend.

From 09:30 on St. Patricks morning we are holding our annual cake sale in the Scout Hall

The parents & friends committee are organising this event and we are asking for our members (and their parents) to show your support by baking us a cake or two (or a batch of cakes) and bringing them to the hall at 09:30 on the morning so we can sell them and raise funds for our group.

Each year we have had tremendous support for this simple fundraiser and we hope it will continue this year.

On behalf of the Group Council, the Section Leaders and all our active Scouters I would like to wish you and your families and very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Our scouting has come to an end for the calendar year of our 2015 and we have had another fantastic 12 months here in the Douglas & St. FinBarres Scout Group.

A brilliant summer camp in Cavan for our Scouts and Ventures last July and looking forward to what promises to be an unbelievable experience next July in Austria.

Our newest sections, the 93rd Cork Beaver Colony and 93rd Cork Cub Scout Pack are now up and running and will continue to grow and learn and bring Scouting to many more kids in our parish and from further afield.

Thank you to the work of our Parents & Friends Committee for their efforts in 2015. Many thanks to the parents of our youth members who encourage their kids and bring them to the many varied activities we offer.

Most importantly thank you and seasons greetings to all our youth members; From our eldest Venture Scout to our youngest Beaver Scout we hope that 2016 will be as much of an adventure for you as 2015 has
