93rd Cub Scout Cush Hike

Location: Cush, Galtees

Start Time: 9:30am

Finish Time: 2.30pm

General Directions: Take M8 north and exit at Jct 13 Mitchelstown. Keep on Mitchelstown bypass until R513 at the Aldi Warehouse on your left take 1st jct on r/about.

Food before hike: A very good breakfast is essential to fuel your cub scout on their walk until the 1st food break.

Gear they must have…

– Boots are essential (trainers, walking or trail shoes are not appropriate)
– Rain gear (coat and water proof pull ups)
– Knapsack (lined with a large bin bag)
– Torch + spare batteries
– Food
– Water 1 litre minimum
– Small 1st aid kit (a zippo bag with 3 or 4 plasters will suffice)
– Whistle
– Sun hat
– Suncream
– Insect repellent
Optional items that are very useful

– Walking poles
– Gaters
– Compass
– Spare fleecy jacket
– Bivvy bag
– Extra snacks eg a few small choc bars or bag of jellies.
Regarding Mobile Devices

If your cub scout brings a mobile device to track their route it is best to keep it in a dry bag, have a spare battery and cable.

Note: Leaders will not take responsibility for any smart devices brought by cub scouts.

Spare clothes and footwear should be left in the car that will be collecting them.
