Hi All,

The coach for Camp 2019 is now full!

PLEASE don’t panic if you’d like to go to Adelboden with us.  Fill in the form here as before.  This form will now add your name to the waiting list.  Any places that come free on the coach, will be offered to people strictly in the order that they were added to the waiting list.

As we’ve said (many times!) before, we’ll try to find a way to get everyone to camp that wants to go there.  While there are no guarantees, we’ll really try to make this happen.  The more the merrier!

As ever, any queries to camp19@douglasscouts.ie

Douglas & St. FinBarres Scout group are thrilled to inform all members, that we look forward to all camping activities in the future

In the meantime, we’d like to encourage all our sections to continue planning outdoor programmes and keep having fun and a laugh: We trust that you didn’t fall for our joke about camping being banned.

And remember, keep the OUT in SCOUTING.

Urgent notice to all..

Scouting Ireland regret to inform all members, that from this point forward, all camping activities are prohibited.

This decision has not been taken lightly, and is after long protracted discussions with our Health and Safety consultants over the last few months.

We would hope to be able to to reverse this decision as soon as possible, but at this stage cannot anticipate when this will be.

In the meantime, we’d like to encourage all Sections and Troops to continue with their Scouting programme’s as much as possible.  Some suggestions might be:

  • Indoor accommodations in the various hostels available around the country.  (Please remember to adhere to all the associations Safeguarding policies).
  • Stay in your own Scout Den?  Or others? (Assuming of course that they comply with fire safety regulations.)
  • Plan overnight hikes?  (Once you don’t plan on camping during the hike).
  • Look out for cheap hotel deals?

We trust that you’ll bear with us during this difficult time.  And remember, keep the OUT in SCOUTING.

A host of beavers, cubs, scouts, venturers, rovers, leaders and parents descended on City Hall on Tuesday 10th January for a reception hosted by Lord Mayor Terry Shannon.

We were greeted in the council chamber where the Lord Mayor welcomed us. The Lord Mayor then took us through the many treasures on display in his offices in two groups.

Conor is seen below signing the visitors book which will go to the City Archives at the end of the Lord Mayor’s tenure. Click on the thumbnails to get a larger version.

Here are the beavers and cubs getting a tour with a very patient Lord Mayor.

And finally all of us! Go Douglas!

Consent Forms, Activities and more news

Posted by Admin | Posted in 60 years of Scouting, Beaver News | Posted on 27-09-2011

Hello all beaver parents and guardians

We are up and running but still need to get back all consent forms from everyone (including those who were in scouting last year).  Can you ensure to bring this to us on friday night?
What is particularly important for us is to ensure that you include an email address that you check regularly and your mobile phone number for text alerts as we will hand out our “hopefully” last paper note on friday night. All communications will now be done electronically.

Don’t forget our 60th anniversary celebrations at the social night in St. Columba’s Hall on October 7th. It promises to be a great occasion.

Yours in scouting (YIS)

Dara, Ross, Siobhan and James.
