Well, in a months time we’ll be in Kandersteg! Having just arrived on site, we should be in the process of getting up tents etc…

So – we’re at the stage of sorting the last few things. In particular:

• All camp fees need to be paid up by this week.
• Camp Bank can now be given in at any stage. We will NOT be changing money into Swiss Franc’s, so please hand up your camp bank already changed into Swiss Francs and also any Euro’s for Bergamo on the way home, if you like.

As ever, we’re there to answer any queries you may have.

About this time in 6 weeks we will be meeting in the Scout Hall all excited and ready for our camp! We do need to do a lot more preparation before then and this is the first step.

For us to check in online for the flight we need to know some information, and while you at it you might give us some more to help us with finalizing details! Please fill in the form below, if you don’t have all the information, you can fill in what you know and email the rest onto us at camp09@douglasscouts.ie

If your son does not have an EHIC card, please arrange for one as soon as possible! This can be done online on http://www.ehic.ie or in person / by post at your local health office.

Well, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I can’t wait. Checking the counter (over on the left!) it’s now only 53 days to go…. WOW!

Hi All,

We briefly gave these out at the meeting last night, but the travel details are roughly:

• Mon 6th July – Depart from the Scout Hall, by coach, for Dublin Airport
• Tues 7th July – Fly out from Dublin Airport at around 6:30a.m.
• Tues 7th July – Arrive at Bergamo Airport mid morning
• Tues 7th July – Travel by train and/or minibus to Kandersteg, arriving late afternoon

Coming home, the details as of now should be:

• Mon 20th July – Leave Kandersteg for Bergamo
• Tues 21st July – Fly out of Bergamo, arriving in Dublin Airport around lunchtime.
• Tues 21st July – Arrive back at the Scout Hall, by coach, possibly around 5pm.

These are the details as we know them right now. Please accept the fact that they likely will change in some format between now and camp!

So I’ve been brought out of retirement to give this blog a bit of a face lift and get it ready for the mass influx of people coming to get updates about our Summer Camp to Kandersteg!

I’m Darran, the Discovery/Rover Scout Leader in Douglas. I worked in Kandersteg in 2003 and 2004 and I’ve been back many times helping out. So I’m kinda handy to have around when organising a Summer Camp to Kandersteg! If anyone one has any questions feel free to ask!
