End of May – a few short weeks to go!!!

Hi All,

Well, we’re down to the last few weeks before camp!!! Some things of note are:

1. ALL information will be available here on our website at https://douglasscouts.ie  This is also where the camp BLOG will be for everyone back home to be envious!!
2. MONEY – All camp fees should be finalised very soon.  Please speak to the leaders if there is still anything outstanding.
3.  THINGS TO BRING.  A list of things to bring will be up here on our website soon.  Speak to any of us if you have any queries at all.
4. CAMP BANK – We have a system at camp called Camp Bank.  Basically, we mind people’s spending money & give it to them when they need it.  This helps from the perspectives of security and budgeting!  It would be best for us if this money was handed up BEFORE we go to camp as it’ll be one less thing on the day we leave!
5. TRAVEL.  It is anticipated that we’ll leave from the Scout Hall at 9a.m. on Thursday 12^th July.  We hope to be back at the hall at 6p.m. on Thursday 26^th July.  Any changes to this – we’ll let you know.  (As ever – check the website! J )
6. VISITING – If anybody wants to visit the site during camp, you’ll be most welcome.  Can we suggest that we need to know in advance though?  (It’d be a shame if you travelled all that way & found we were gone somewhere for the day…)  As a suggestion, we’re ensuring to be close to site on both Sundays just in case – but talk to us if that doesn’t suit & you’d like to call on a different date.

As ever, PLEASE contact us at any stage if you’ve any queries at all.  That’s what we’re there for.  There really is no such thing as a silly question!!!!

Hi All, It’s that time of year again – time to announce Summer Camp! This year, we’re going back to Boyle!!  We’ve previously camped there on 3 occasions, 1985, 1998 and 2006.  To say it’s a magic location for a camp is really to play it down!!

The dates of the camp will be from THURSDAY 12th  JULY to THURSDAY 26th JULY.  This is a bit of a change for us.  We’ve had to defer the few days to the Thursday, due to the popularity of the campsite.  It’s completely booked out up until 12th July! The price of the camp will be €350.  As ever, this will include ALL expenses for the camp, including:

• Travel
• Food
• ALL activities
• ALL admission fees
• Days Out

Basically, the only money needed by anyone on camp is for snacks, presents etc etc. What will we do there?  There is a huge list of activities in the area.  (Have a look at some of the possible options HERE. We would plan on doing at least some of these – we won’t have time to do them all!!!)

During the previous camps we’ve had there we took part in Hikes, Loads of water activities (Boating, Swimming, Rafting).  We’ve explored the islands.  We’ve had some of the MOST amazing backwoods nights.   We’ve had activities on our own & with other Scout Groups on site.  We’ve toured nearby.  Spent days out in Bundoran……   The list goes ON AND ON AND ON!!!!

What do you need to do now? Tell your leader that you’re going!  We need to know numbers as soon as possible.  Also, to confirm your place, we need a €100, non refundable deposit – by the end of January please.  But the most important thing is to let us know!!! It’s going to be so so great!  If getting the deposit together is an issue – don’t worry!  Just let us know that you plan on going.
