6th Cubs Comeraghs hike – March 1

Date: Sunday, March 1

Time: 9.30 am at Kilclooney Wood Car Park

Cost: €5 (to cover petrol)

Location: Meet at Kilclooney Wood Car Park (https://goo.gl/maps/pcdazDgPxCZRE8yKA)

Travel directions:

  • Head for Dungarvan on the N25
  • Abbout 12km after Dungarvan, just after an applegreen station take the left turn for Kilkenny (R676)
  • Follow the R676 for about 9km, you should hit a forested area
  • The car park is then on the left (limited parking is also available on the right)

Note:

  • Ensure your cub had a good breakfast
  • We will do a quick gear check before leaving the car park
  • We expect to be back at the Kilclooney Wood Car Park between 3 and 4 pm

Hike Gear List

  • Neckerchief
  • Hiking boots
  • Rain gear (jacket with hood & trousers)
  • hiking trousers (no jeans or cotton tracksuits!)
  • Warm clothes – multi light layers are best.
  • Water – minimum of 1 ltr
  • Hat & Gloves – it will be cold!
  • Torch & spare batteries
  • Bivvy bag or large heavy duty refuse sack
  • Healthy packed lunch
  • In separate small bag: Change of shoes + warm hoody for after hike

Optional, if cub scout has these…

  • 1st aid kit
  • Whistle
  • Compass
  • Gaiters
