Hi everyone,

Camp is getting very close so here are some more details for those going to Silver Cross Scout Campsite, Swansea

  1. BLOG!! We will (hopefully) be running a blog throughout camp again this year.  We have started it and will be posting any info regarding camp.
This can be checked out on this website: www.douglasscouts.ie and  just click on Camp 2014 for the latest update.
  2. MEETING!! Everyone going to Camp meets each Wednesday night from 7pm for an hour to prepare. We started this week and these meetings will run up to and including the week we head away on Camp
  3. CONSENT FORMS!! Everyone MUST have these handed up by next week (June 11th) completed and signed, if as a parent you’ve anything to discuss relating to something noted on the form please speak with a leader on Wednesday night.
  4. CAMP BANK/SPENDING MONEY!! We operate a Camp Bank system while away on summer camp.
The Scouts and Venture Scouts spending money is handed up BEFORE we head off and will be looked after by the leaders. This will be given out then to the Scouts and Venture Scouts on activities and hikes etc.
We won’t be making recommendations on spending limits as each family has their own limits.
Please have your camp bank handed up BEFORE June 25th (STERLING, NOT euro)
  5. WEATHER!! Here’s a long term forecast for Swansea Weather. Click Here
  6. SILVER CROSS!! Postal Address of where we are staying: Silver Cross Scout Centre, Llangyfelach, Swansea SA5 7LQ and for emergencies and you are unable to contact the leaders onsite then the wardens office is 00 44 1792 897950
  7. MOBILE PHONES!! We’re are asking that you DO NOT BRING your mobile to Camp. We understand that people are going to ignore this request so please note the following:
    A) Douglas & St. FinBarres Scout Group accepts NO responsibility for any loss or damage of a mobile phone on Camp.
    B) Douglas & St. FinBarres Scout Group Leaders will NOT look after, mind, watch over, or charge up a mobile for Scouts/Ventures on Camp.
    C) Any Scout or Venture Scout using their mobile while onsite will have it confiscated and returned when we arrive in Cork on July 19th.
  8. PASSPORTS!! While not a requirement, Stena Line have said that some form of ID to be carried for those travelling with a Group. A copy of your Birth Cert is sufficient but a passport or drivers licence is preferred. If the Scout in your life does not have a Passport then please go to www.passport.ie and use the Passport Express Service which has an average turnaround of 10/11 working days. We will take up peoples passports/ID’s on the night of June 25th

Anything else for now please speak with a leader at the Wednesday night meetings or drop me an email
