Well, we’re down to the last week or so!!!  Details you need are:

1. As discussed before, all info is available on https://douglasscouts.ie This is also where the camp BLOG will be for everyone back home to be envious!!
2. MEETING TIME:  We’re meeting on this Saturday @ 6:30pm. (Sorry about the change – we had said 6pm but thought this a little too early).
3. PASSPORTS.  All passports should have been handed up tonight at the meeting.
4. MONEY.  Camp bank is being collected.  Please get it to us BEFORE Saturday.

While we’re away, our emergency contact is our treasurer – Billy Desmond.  Billy can be contacted on mobile 086 8350891.

Travel Details & More – 23rd June 2010

Well, we’re down to the last week or so!!! Details you need are:

1. As discussed before, all info is available on https://douglasscouts.ie This is also where the camp BLOG will be for everyone back home to be envious!!
2. MEETING TIME: We’re meeting on Saturday 3rd July at 6pm at the ferryport in Ringaskiddy. This is a bit earlier than we had planned so please take note!
3. PASSPORTS. All passports are to be brought down to the meeting on next Wednesday, 30th June. We will collect them at this stage for camp.
4. MONEY. Any camp fees outstanding are now well overdue. Also, please bring down camp bank in sterling as soon as you can.

Thats about it. We’re meeting next Wednesday, 7:30 to 8:30 again. All welcome, but essential for camp people!!!

We will be packing gear for camp over the next few days!

If anyone is free to help out from the Discovery Scout section and Rover scout section as well as Scouters, please come and help out.

We will be meeting at 8.30pm on Friday 18th June 2010 and at 7.30pm on Monday 21st June 2010. The more that can help the better!

Last night was the second meeting for everyone going to camp. At the start of the meeting we ran a game called Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Everyone took part in this from the youngest Explorer scout to the oldest Rover scout. It was great fun as everyone realised it was alot harder than it looked.

After this everyone got involved in checking the tents for camp. Last night we focused on the dome tents. Each tent was unpacked, checked and then repacked (which proved to be a little bit challenging).

It was very important that we did this as we need to be sure that all the tents are waterproof, etc. so that we only take the right tents. It was great for the younger scouts to be a part of this as they learned how to check and fold the dome tents.

We’re meeting at the Ferryport in Ringaskiddy at 7:30pm on Saturday 3rd July.

We’ll be sailing at about 9pm, getting into Swansea at about 8:30am on the Sunday morning.

Coming home, we’ll be back in Ringaskiddy at about 7am on the morning of Saturday 17th July.

Remember – meetings for all are every Wednesday night from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.  These will continue up until Wednesday 30th June (the last Wednesday before camp)

• Ground Mat or Small Inflatable
• Bivvy Bag
• Track-ends/Leggings
• Warm Sweater
• T-Shirts
• Changes of Underwear
• Plenty of Socks
• Warm Nightwear
• Change of Shoes or Runners
• Shorts & Trousers
• Raingear – Waterproof Jacket & Trousers
• Warm Hat & Gloves
• Wash Gear – Toothbrush & paste, Shower Gel, Shampoo, Comb
• Towel
• Swimming costume & hat
• Tea-Towel & Dish Cloth
• Sunglasses & Sun hat
• Sun cream & Lip save
• Unbreakable – Cup, Plate, Bowl, Knife, Fork, Spoon
• Torch & Spare Batteries
• Spare Kneckerchiefs & Woggles
• Camera (We recommend disposable)

• Rucksack or similar type hold all
• Day trip bag
• VERY OLD CLOTHES FOR Spiderland!!!

We would ask not to  anything electronic.  (Mobiles, iPod’s, MP3’s, Gameboy’s, DS’s etc.)  They can easily get lost / stolen / damaged and we will not / cannot accept any responsibility for them.

Due to the nature of the activities planned, we’d recommend not bringing good / expensive clothes.

Everyone going to camp met up on the 9th June for the first of our pre-camp meetings. This is a great chance for everyone to get to know each other. It also allows us time to get the gear ready and have some fun. There was a great turnout at the first meeting.

At Wednesdays meeting the scouts took part in some games, together and in smaller groups. They also took part in a name game.

The scouts also broke up into groups to talk about camp and activities they’d like to do or try.

After this Enda spoke and gave some more details about camp. More news to follow next week!

Thanks to an “eagle eyed” parent who noticed that in the letter we gave out last week, we suggested that the parents meeting was on Monday 16th June.  We ARE meeting on the Monday of that week – but that is, of course, the 14th June.
