The weekend of our Spike Island Group Activity is almost upon us. Final preparations have been completed and the leadership team have put a massive amount of planning and effort into this weekend and it’ll all be worth it.

This is the highest number of members we’ve had attend a Group activity and it’s brilliant to have the support of the parents and members of our group when things like this are organised; I hope it’s a sign of things to come when individual sections arrange activities in the next few months

Transport on Saturday Morning

With the volume of people we have going the departure times have been spilt to accomodate everyone.

All SCOUTS, VENTURE SCOUTS and Leaders not attached to a Group must be at the pier in Monkstown for departure @ 08:45hrs on Saturday morning

All BEAVER SCOUTS & CUB SCOUTS and their Leader teams must be at the Pier in Monkstown for departure @ 09:15hrs on Saturday morning

Transport on Saturday Evening

If a Beaver Scout, Cub Scout, Scout or Venture Scout has not had a completed consent form, (2014/15 version) signed by their parents and handed up to their section leader BEFORE departure they WILL NOT BE PERMITTED to join us for this activity.

You can download a 2014/15 activities consent form by clicking here

If you’ve any last minute questions please contact your section leader, otherwise see you on Saturday

Yours In Scouting,

Conor Crowley
Group Leader

Please be patient with us on Saturday morning, we’ll get everyone out to Spike eventually but safety onboard the boats and the logistics of doing so will come first.

Join Scouts?

Posted by Admin | Posted in 2nd Scouts, 47th Scouts, 6th Scouts, Scout News | Posted on 22-08-2014

Why haven’t you joined Scouts?

  1. Are you a boy or girl ranging from 12 to 15 years of age?
  2. Are you a former Beaver or Cub Scout that never moved up to Scouts and now aged between 12 and 15?
  3. Are you a former Girl Guide and what to see what it’s all about?

Why not come down and see what it’s all about? Scouting started out of the Scout section so it stands to reason that we have some serious fun in Scouts.

The Spirit of Adventure is what drives the Scout Section to challenge you to try new things encourage Scouts to try to be more responsible, try more things as a team and even more leadership. People in the Scout Age section have a better idea of what they want and like so it stands to reason that each Scout Section gets its identity from the members in the group and it is a chance for them to express that identity

Douglas & St. FinBarres Group have 3 active Scout Sections with availability for new members aged 12 to 15; Get in touch, you’ll be plesantly surprised

2nd Cork – Tuesday Nights @ 19:30

6th Cork – Wednesday Nights @ 18:00
Scouter: John Cleary – email for more information: johncleary@douglasscouts.ie

Well if you were at camp in the Czech Republic, you were queuing to get off the Celtic Link Ferry after an enjoyable crossing.

Ahead was a very long road trip – but hey, great craic all the way….

Ah, the memories!  Half what Scouting is about!!!
