Hi All,
I’ve a confession to make – any time I’m in the UK, I never worry too much about having a few £’s in my pocket when I get home. It’s very likely I’ll be there again before too long & I’ll use it then. A lot of people are the same – you may be one of them.
If so, you may be planning to give some of the cash you have kept to your son / daughter when going to camp.
Just a quick note about “old” £5 notes. These look like:

These notes are not being accepted by any shops or businesses since 5th May 2017.
Because of this, we will NOT be accepting those old £5 notes into camp bank. Also, please don’t give them to them to bring – it’ll only lead to disappointment as they won’t be able to spend them.
You can read more about this at: Daily Telegraph Old £5 Note
Just for interest, the new (valid) £5 note looks like:

As ever, give us a call with any queries…
Enda.
Hi All,
To keep things sensible this weekend, can we ask that all cars park on the left side of the car park at all times?
This will leave the right side for the coaches. It will make life easier for all – and more importantly, safer!!
In other words:

Thanks for your help and understanding!!
Hi All,
Flights for Gilwell 2017 have now been booked!
All will be revealed at a later date, but for now, all you need to know is that we’ll be leaving early on Sat 1st July and will be back again on the evening of Sat 15th July.
While the camp bookings are now “closed”, we will still accept people onto the list for a short while more, but IF THE FLIGHTS HAVE GONE UP IN PRICE, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY THE INCREASE.
To be honest, we don’t expect them to go up too much, but you never know!!
Any questions, just get back to us!!!
Enda.

Can you believe it…. We’re about to launch Camp 2017!
Following a hugely successful summer camp in 2016 we’ve wasted no time in preparing for Camp 2017.
The leadership team has sat down and looked at a number of options. While we haven’t finalised anything yet we can say it’s looking like the UK is our destination for Camp 2017
We are conscious that cost is a factor for a lot of families so this was taken into account as we’d love to break the numbers barrier from last year.
We had to limit the numbers for 2016 due to taking our own bus but this year it’s a case of the more the merrier! The more we have going, the less the cost is on the group.
Anyone who’s been on camp over the last few years will know the benefits of having a good number of Scouts and Venture Scouts going to camp: More People means a wider variety of activities to get involved with, more people means more chance to meet new Scouting friends and more people means a larger site with even more places and things to discover!
So for now… here’s what we know:
Possible/Probable Dates: 1st fortnight in July
Open too: Scouts & Venture Scouts
Next Steps: Register your interest with your section leader at your next meeting
More details very very soon!
Hi All,
Huge thanks for your patience as we’re ironing out some of the initial teething problems with the system.
As of now, you CAN pay for registration with the system. (It was only showing Spike – registration is now there).
We really appreciate all the feedback – without it, we would never get there!
Anyone at the registration night on Sunday – we hope to have a number of laptops there & will be able to sort any individual issues with the system.
Enda.
Morning all,
Here in Douglas & St. FinBarre’s Scout group, we’re implementing an online payment system for the group, through a company called Easy Payments Plus.
We’re excited by it, we feel it will give both us and you an easier way to pay & track payments.
In the next short while, you should receive an email from the system, allowing you to activate your account. You should do this – it’s NOT spam!
We KNOW that there may be teething problems while we role this out – please bear with us. We feel it’ll be really worth it on everybody’s part.
Come back with any queries,
Enda.
